Volunteers are critical to the successful operation of The Food Pantry. Supervised training is provided for all aspects of Pantry service. Please consider how you might be part of our ministry.
Client greeters welcome clients and check them in using existing file cards or creating new file cards, manage the client card file and keep the service process moving. Greeters assist in bringing clients and intake volunteers together. One or two needed per service session.
Client intake volunteers meet one-on-one with individual clients to determine their particular food assistance needs and assist in updating client file information. Two needed per service session.
‘Runners’ take client intake forms to the pantry for processing and then deliver the food to waiting clients. One or two needed per service session.
Packers fill the client food requests, pulling food items from pantry shelves and bagging them for client pick-up. Packers also assist in packing weekly bags of groceries for our nutrition class participants. Two or three needed per service session.
Food processers mark and date food donations and stock pantry shelves. Several, as needed.
As many as 6-9 volunteers are needed for each service session, or 12-18 per week. A great way for teens to earn service hours, especially during the Summer months!
Other volunteers help purchase perishable food items, provide pick-up services for large donations and manage the overall pantry operation.
